A classic like this *needs* to be shared - the "kids" may have not read it. ;)

Joel Spolsky's piece was written almost a decade ago, but is still as relevant as it was written yesterday. Flow is very important to me and lately I've suffered a lot from the lack of it. Planning to move to a cave house in Granada, away from everything (well, at least from the street and construction work noise), to write some decent code. Using a 3G modem connection, so as long as there's electricity for my laptop, I'm all set!

Re: One reason programmers dislike meetings so much...

Thanks, I had forgotten about that piece. I hope you don't mind that I'm sharing it with the rest of my readers :)

Re: One reason programmers dislike meetings so much...

It's an old post, but I have to comment. Thank you so much for sharing this find. True every word!

Paul's essay brings to mind an old favourite of mine: "Where do These People Get Their (Unoriginal) Ideas?" by Joel Spolsky, in which he talks about the flow.

http://www.joelonsoftware.c...

Now I'm off to learn more about the Zoop Framework. :)

Re: One reason programmers dislike meetings so much...

amen to that
